Lorah’s Candies, started in 1970, became well-known in Lancaster County and surrounding areas for fine handmade chocolates. Customers anxiously anticipated Mrs. Lorah’s “chocolate season” so they could place orders for their favorite sweets. Maria (Lorah) Harvey, Ruth’s niece, acquired the business in 2009, renaming it Lorah’sHandmade Chocolates, LLC. We continue making chocolates the traditional way with the highest quality ingredients and recipes that made Lorah’s chocolates well-known. Some of our recipes have been passed down through three generations. All of Ruth Lorah’s original recipes are being used, as well as several new ones.
Our chocolates are completely handmade. Our centers are made from scratch using
the freshest ingredients, cooked on our stove, worked on our marble table, and hand-rolled and formed on our antique cream cutter. Finally, the cream centers are hand-dipped in the finest quality American-style chocolate.
